Our specialty is in pediatric dentistry which is a focus on treating infants, children, and adolescents. Below are common questions and answers regarding proper oral hygiene.

When should I schedule my child's first visit to the dentist?

  • Dr. Lynn recommends that you make an appointment with our office as soon as your child is six months old. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that a child be seen within the first six months after his/her first tooth erupts or by one year old, whichever is first.

How is a Pediatric Dentist different from other Dentists?

  • All dental specialists (pediatric dentists, orthodontists, oral surgeons, etc.) begin by completing dental school, then continue their education with several years of additional specialized training. During that training, they specialize in the field of pediatric dentistry by gaining extensive knowledge and experience in treating infants, children, and adolescents.
    • Dr. Lynn enjoys working with children and brings to each patient his expertise in childhood development and behavior. Our office design, decorations and activities are geared toward young visitors and provide an especially friendly and comfortable environment for children.

Why does my child require dental x-rays?

  • Each child is unique in the timing of which they require dental x-rays. Dr. Lynn will recommend x-rays based on your child's unique situation. Once the primary teeth in back are touching each other, then annual x-rays are recommended. As permanent teeth begin to come in, x-rays help to make sure your child's teeth and jaw are healthy and properly aligned. If your child is at a high risk of dental problems, more frequent x-rays may be suggested.
